This study was conducted to offer some scopes that are needed in developing strategies for preventing drinking during pregnancy. Specifically, the factors affecting on pregnant women"s alcohol use were analyzed based on the survey carried out between May 7 and May 20 of 2008 with self-reported questionnaires. The sample consisted of 173 pregnant women in G city. Among the respondents, 14.45% were found to have used alcohol during pregnancy. Alcohol dependancy in mothers(r=.20, p<.01), drinking during pre-pregnancy (r=.37, p<.01), first drinking time(r=-.17, p=.02), attitude towards drinking during pregnancy(r=-.36, p=<.01), necessity of drinking-prevention education during pre-pregnancy(r=.23, p<.01), alcohol expectancy(r=.14, p=.04) were found to be significantly correlated to alcohol use during pregnancy. Logistic regression analysis showed that the predictors are the attitude towards drinking during pregnancy(OR=.15, p<.01), necessity of drinking-prevention education during pre-pregnancy(OR=.37, p<.01), and frequency of drinking during pre-pregnancy(OR=2.18, p=.02). To effectively prevent drinking of pregnant women, surveys should be carried out repeatedly and policies such as education for prohibiting alcohol use during pregnancy on public broadcasting program need to be installed.
